The Curation
Some things become more legible with time.
Stories are like that.
Not because they become simpler.
Because we learn how to see them.
Every life accumulates traces.
Habits.
Silences.
Objects carried from place to place.
Ways of paying attention.
Ways of loving.
Ways of withdrawing.
None of these explain a person on their own.
Together, they begin to reveal someone more expansive than first impressions allow.
Embodied Storycraft begins from the belief that character analysis is a practice of paying attention, expanding our capacity to learn people rather than determine them.
Stories give us the rare chance to practice this kind of attention.
We can return to the same character again and again, noticing another trace each time until someone who first felt like an archetype begins to feel like a person whose life exceeds any single explanation.
The Embodied Storycraft Collection
The Curation is the Embodied Storycraft Collection. It gathers media analysis, Asian GL writing, essays, storytelling, and learning resources exploring representation, empathy, narrative, and character development through careful attention.
Every essay, glyph, piece of writing, and learning resource belongs to the same larger practice: tracing specificity one life at a time.

The first thing I noticed about Wine Vetaka was her eyebrows. They expressed so much sadness and earnestness in the trailer for Enemies with Benefits in scenes that were ostensibly supposed to establish her as this intimidating and strict character. The way she lifted them while expressing pain, or confusion or just clarifying a procedure,…
Manut-jai and the Irreplaceability of a Person
What is Manut-jai? In considering what makes a character feel like an individual, I have coined a few Thai-based concepts. First, the heart of a character doesn’t quite encapsulate the specificity that I seek to track and recognize. Instead, I have taken the word for human in Thai, manut and the word for a core…
More Full of People
A Window into the Vastness I keep falling in love with characters. I have been doing this for years. I still do it every time a story settles into me. And I’ve gradually become fascinated by what that means. Honestly, I’ve been realizing that I deeply enjoy getting to know them. And I love finding…
Why Embodied Storycraft?
Beginning with Coherence Why is it called Embodied Storycraft? Because screenbased stories are told through bodies. Whether animated or acted, every glance, gesture, silence, posture, movement and expression becomes part of how a character’s felt experience is communicated. Televisual stories, moreover, are crafted. They are extraordinarily collaborative human expressions of creativity, built by hundreds of…
